Education Program Training
On November 13th and 14th Maya Traditions hold a two days workshop for
students from our Education Program. The topic of the workshop was "Health
and Nutrition in my community." The students were trained in topics like nutrition,
health management in the communities, personal hygiene and hygiene in food
preparation as well as the role of healers and medicinal plants in the communities.
30 young students in ages between 15 to 22 years from the communities as Chirijox
fromSanta Catarina Ixtahuacan, Santa Clara la Laguna, San Juan La Laguna, Quejel
from Chichicastenango, Chuacruz from Solola and Patanatic from Panajachel. The
students were trained also in project development. The objective of this
workshop was to train young people, so they can be able to develop a project
and execute it with Maya Traditions Foundation help, transmit their knowledge
to the artisan groups in their community and other people of the same community
in order to participate in their communities and built their leaderships skills.
